FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How many times a week do I need to come to see results?
To see the fastest results we recommend attending classes/sessions 2-3 times per week. Within a month you will feel taller and leaner, have increased body awareness, increased tone in problem areas, and a general increase in energy.
How long are your sessions?
All private and duet lessons and the majority of our classes are 50 minutes. Our classical mat class is fast and a challenging 45 minutes.
It's my first time doing Pilates. What should I wear/bring?
Wear form-fitting, comfortable clothing so that the instructor can see your alignment and make corrections when necessary. No shoes are worn for our Pilates privates, duets, equipment and mat classes. Shoes are required for our Cardio Sculpt classes. Mats are provided for all mat classes.
What is the difference between a pilates equipment and mat session?
The main difference is that a mat class offers no added resistance to the workout. In a private, duet, or group equipment class the added resistance from the springs will increase muscle mass and correct muscular imbalances more efficiently than on the mat.
Does Pilates help with weight loss?
Pilates will help you lose inches, however good nutrition and a cardiovascular program are necessary to lose pounds. We offer cardio based classes (Cardio Sculpt) to help you achieve that goal.
Why should I come take classes at your studio when it is way cheaper to join a gym?
Good question! Classes at a gym are typically packed, the instruction is not customized to the individual, and there is no system for charting your progress. We know all of our students by name, our classes are small, and we offer customized instruction.
I took a Pilates class at a gym and it really hurt my back and neck. Was I doing something wrong?
Yes! Pilates should not hurt in that way. Pilates needs to be taught one-on-one or in small groups so students can learn how to engage the right muscle groups and work with proper alignment. This bodily re-education will change the way you look and the way you live in your body.
Can I do Pilates during pregnancy?
Yes! Pilates is safe do to during pregnancy because it is gentle on the joints, builds the deep abdominals and pelvic floor, and prevents low back pain. All of our instructors are trained in pre and post natal protocols.
